Stefano Amantini a professional photographer since 1987, Stefano Amantini was born in Florence, Italy in 1957. After earning a master's in anthropology, and completing a number of photography assignments in the field of advertising, he decided to concentrate on travel reportage. His cultural studies, sensitivity and inquisitive nature guided him to distant and exotic destinations such as the Sahara desert. His career took a positive turn and direction in 1991, when he and other two photographers -Massimo Borchi and Guido Cozzi- founded Atlantide, a photographic agency specializing in travel reportage. Amantini collaborates with major travel magazines -both Italian and foreign- which has published his work, including GEO Saison, V&S, Bell'Italia, In Viaggio, Gente Viaggi, D La Repubblica, Panorama Travel, Dove, GEO (France and Spain), Wine Spectator, Condé Nast Traveler, National Geographic Traveler, The New York Times and Rutas del Mundo. Thanks to magazine assignments and his own personal travel projects, he has built a vast and unique photo archive. This has established a solid base for Amantini to pursue personal creative expression through photography. His work includes limited edition prints and special projects focused on enhancing the quality of Atlantide archive.
